Barcamp Nowhere?

February 11, 2007 —

I live in the exact center of North America. If you plotted out the single farthest point from all oceans, you would find my home, my house, and my office.

And on certain days, like today, when it’s snowing and cold and my daughter has pneumonia or bronchitis or whatever it is that just made her cough so hard that she threw up on me, I wonder what it’s like to live somewhere closer to an ocean, closer to vineyards, closer to events.

But, I like it here. Our businesses have plugged in well. And there are even these things called airplanes that let you travel to places with events, etc.

Like Austin – I’m heading there twice next month. And, in the five weeks between SXSW and Minnebar (currently scheduled for April 21st,) I’ll be on the road / in the air at least 3 more times. It’s just enough travel to make me wonder why we don’t have events here.

So, is there any reason not to start planning Barcamp Nowhere? Are there location prejudices that I’m unaware of? Do events require oceans or vineyards?

These are my important questions tonight. Anyone have answers?
