I just got a stats ping that a site we built a while back is being auctioned off at eBay. (We actually did a lot more on the front-end than we did on the back.)
Trezr is a social shopping site that should have pretty good potential. The fact that it’s for sale is proof that it takes work to turn a startup into a gainful startup, but seeing that it has a pagerank of 5 and 500 or so bookmarks in del.icio.us shows that it’s gained some attention.
It’ll be interesting to see what it sells for. I hope it goes for a lot more than the current bid of $1,025. Not sure where the reserve is set, but he domain alone is worth a lot more than that and the trezr team has invested a lot of effort.

Some time ago, Deane and I started hashing out a similar project, Coupost, where anyone could post coupons and deals with the theory of affiliate commissions driving both posts and internal revenue.
Reality for Coupost, it was an IDC project, is that I did not want to update, promotion was terrible, and we never fully developed the functionality. We used WordPress, but I cut programming budget before we finished full functionality. Aesthetics never were achieved – we never attempted.
Yet, for anyone interested in this type of model, Trezr or Coupost, I know it works. So here is the Trezr reality for start-up – my belief — you are “buying a job” for the first 6 months. Your job will entail administrative tasks of finding trezrs to post, doing some blog posts and comments and such elsewhere, add some PPC traffic, continually update links (coupons are usually time dated – hope the DB removes them automatically), etc…but you will be paid well if you are patient. How well? You can make millions if you are diligent.
So mister, I am an entrepreneur, strap on your I am an admin hat and make a few million in the process. Being an admin never felt so good.
