This wasn't due to the blogging software, though, it was due to the site not being in a managed hosting environment. Blogging software doesn't really require much help from a dedicated tech team, so most bloggers I know run light. In an ideal situation, the webhost would have just grabbed a previous day's backup and overwrote the affected files (easily found in an access log) once the problem was diagnosed.
