Confidence

November 13, 2008 —

At the time of this writing, the financial crisis has had no lasting impact on me. And, if you do like I do (building things for the Internet,) you probably have a similar story. Your job is still necessary. The Internet still needs you.

So, the next time you hear someone [like us] re-broadcasting news of recession, or hiring freezes, or job cuts, or bankruptcies, or foreclosures, or anything else with no immediate impact on the person in question, open-hand slap them. Don’t hurt anybody. Just shake them up a bit, give them pause.

I’ll consider it a favor.

Because nobody benefits from sharp, aggressive people in crazy demanding industries forecasting economic doom based on other people’s stimuli. It’s lazy and distracting. And I suspect a mild beat down would get them to see the same. Maybe even prompt them to get back in it, throw a little weight over their shoulders, and head off to build something spectacular. In other words, focus.

And by the way, that open-hand slap request can go for others, outside of the Internet, as well. Like Lou Dobbs. Bonus points for that one.

Thanks.

What about Nancy Grace? Can I slap her?

She doesn’t report on the economy, but good Lord does that woman need to be slapped.

Yeah, but no bonus points. She’s a different class of bitter.
